A fifth-generation Morgan Hill native and UC Davis graduate, Matt has deep roots in South Santa Clara County—and an even deeper understanding of its real estate landscape. Since joining South County Realty in 2002, he has built a strong reputation as a full-service Broker, successfully handling Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and Land sales throughout the region.

 

In 2025, Matt became the Broker/Owner of South County Realty, continuing the firm’s long-standing tradition of providing expert real estate services with a local touch. He works closely with homeowners, investors, and developers, delivering strategic solutions across a wide range of property types—from estate homes to commercial centers and large-scale land developments.

 

While Matt is especially recognized for his expertise in contracts and negotiating, his value extends far beyond the transaction. With his decades of experience and deep local insight, he helps clients navigate the often complex political and regulatory landscape involved in getting projects approved. Whether it’s coordinating with city planning departments or aligning with county requirements, Matt understands how to move projects forward efficiently—thanks in part to a family legacy of political and civic involvement.

Over 100 years ago, Matt’s great-grandfather, John Telfer, served as Morgan Hill’s longest-serving mayor and civil servant, helping shape the foundation of the community that still thrives today. That legacy continues in Matt’s work—bridging tradition with progress, and local knowledge with professional expertise.

Outside of real estate, Matt enjoys an active lifestyle with his wife and two daughters—Skiing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, hiking, scuba diving, cooking, and spending time at the beach with their English Labrador, Cody.
